The One Hour Tourist Story

What is a One Hour Tourist ?

Making the most of every hour in day is what being a “One Hour Tourist” is all about. Too many people have been conditioned that unless you have a full day or a week you can’t really get out and see things. There are many times due to work, other commitments or travel schedules that you may only have an hour or two and still want to explore wherever you are.

I beleive life is to short to “kill time” inside a hotel lounge, sit for hours at an airport during long layovers or delays when you can be out exploring the city you are in – even if only for one hour. I see way too many people missing out on doing something fun, not exploring or learning something new.

This is my travel blog focussed on making the most of every hour you have. If you have a gap in your schedule, a long layover or just looking for something to experience. Stuck in an airport or city with nothing to do until the next stage of your journey, jetlagged at 430am, cancelled meeting on a business trip?

One things I love to do and  what makes every trip interesting is getting up early, going for a walk (or sometimes a bike ride) with my camera or even just the iPhone. Nearly all the the pictures here are from my travels, edited by me and form part of my memories.

The OneHourTourist:
I'm Bjorn !

Travel has been part of my life for many decades and I’ve been fortunate to see much of the world and I learnt quickly you have to make the time to get out, see things, meet people and enjoy the world we live in.

You will find me up at 5am walking back streets, camera in hand exploring something new. I love sharing what I find usually through pictures and videos.

Over thirty countries and hundreds of cities  has taught me two things:

1

I firmly believe that every moment in a new city is an opportunity to explore and create memories.  Meet people, have a coffee, take a silly selfie, watch the world at work !

Early morning is my absolute favorite time. There’s nothing better than watching a city wake up, learning about its rhythms and routines.

2

There’s an unfortunate lack of resources about the things that can be done in an hour. There so much about how to spend a day , a week or even longer but for many they don’t have that time.

I know many people who only have a few hours or want to break the day up into smaller bite size activities.

Enter OneHourTourist

I want to help others explore the world in hour segments to make travel more accessible and manageable for people with busy schedules. By offering my personal insights to things that can be enjoyed in short periods, I aim to enrich lives with cultural, historical, and natural wonders without the need for extensive planning or long vacations.

This approach allows individuals to discover new places, broaden their horizons, and find inspiration in the world around them. It fosters a sense of curiosity and adventure, encouraging continuous learning and appreciation for the diverse beauty and experiences our world has to offer.
