Harbour Bridge Walk and Ferry

Take the free bridge walk

Walking across the Sydney Harbour Bridge from Cumberland Street in The Rocks is one of the city’s most scenic and accessible experiences. The pedestrian walkway runs along the eastern side of the bridge, offering sweeping views of the Opera House, Circular Quay, and the sparkling harbour below. It’s free, safe, and takes about 20–30 minutes at a leisurely pace. As you reach Milsons Point on the northern side, the atmosphere shifts to a quieter, more local feel with leafy streets and harbour cafés. From here, hop on a ferry back to Circular Quay for a relaxing return journey with beautiful skyline views.

When to Visit

Morning

Crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge at sunrise is magical. The early light paints the sky in soft pinks and golds, while the city slowly wakes below. Few people are around, and the air feels fresh and calm. As you walk from Cumberland Street, the Opera House glows gently, and ferries begin their morning routes — the perfect reward before returning from Milsons Point by ferry.
